The Opening Day for the 2012 season was held on Thursday 2nd February after being washed out on the 30th January. A good roll up of 58 members saw a great day of golf followed by lunch. Thank you to Star and her helpers for a wonderful meal and also thanks to the helpers who assisted with the running of the event, as three members of the Committee were away at the time.
John Blyde and Peter Oates, along with their wives, Lyn and Colleen were in Vietnam sampling the delicacies of the East. I’m sure there are many stories to be told about this little adventure.
Two of our members, Steve Egan and Henry Hargreaves have been a bit under the weather lately, we all wish you both a speedy recovery.
Any of you who have received the Yeppoon Golf Club 2012 program book will have noticed an attachment stapled to the inside detailing Veterans events for the year. Please disregard that attachment as it is incorrect. The correct timetable for events can be found at the end of this newsletter as well as on the Veterans noticeboard in the clubhouse.
COMMITTEE NEWS:
The introduction of a couple of different forms of competitions over the past month seems to have been met with approval, judging by the numbers turning up. Please do not hesitate to talk with the Captain or any other Committee members if you have any ideas which may assist with making our Monday golf days more enjoyable.
Remember, this is your club and we as a Committee are here to help and coordinate what the majority of members want.
The majority of members should by now have received your red membership cards. Please keep these cards as they are required to be presented should you participate in any QVGU events.
ITEMS OF INTEREST:
The main club is introducing a Friday 9 Hole social competition along with a sausage sizzle. Let’s hope it turns out as a success. The new carpet has been laid in the clubhouse and some minor renovations are due to be carried out. Please bear with any inconvenience.
David from the Proshop has asked that all accounts be finalised so that he can prepare for his departure from the Club.
WORDS OF WISDOM:
The less skilled the player, the more likely he is to share his ideas about your golf swing!!
